Hall at Lion Dick Brûlé Community Centre
170 Castlefrank Road, Kanata
Facility Size: The main hall provides approximately 100 square metres (10 metres by 11 meters) or 1,000 square feet of space (32 feet by 36 feet) – making it suitable for both small and medium sized groups.
Capacity: Depending on the function, the facility can easily accommodate 80 to 100 persons standing or with chairs only. For functions with tables and chairs, maximum capacity would be 60 to 70 people. Capacity will be substantially less for more active events such as exercise classes, etc.
Kitchen: Rental of the Hall includes access to a full kitchen. It is not a commercial kitchen, however both a fridge and full sized stove are available for meal preparation. A selection of pots, pans, and serving dishes are available along with plates, bowls, saucers, cups and cutlery; however, most renters prefer to bring disposable plates and utensils. Large urns are available for coffee and hot water or tea, as well as a small coffee maker and tea kettle for small groups. Coffee, tea, and condiments are not supplied – renters must bring their own.
Accessibility: The hall is fully accessible with an outdoor ramp and a wheelchair accessible washroom.
Other features: There are two accessible washrooms and a cloak room on site. A flat screen TV with a Rogers Cable box is available in the main hall. A DVD player is available for use. Guest Access to WIFI is also available.
Bar Facilities: Alcohol is not permitted on the premises unless the renter requests bar service from the Kanata-Hazeldean Lions Club or obtains their own Special Occasion Permit from the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario. The Kanata-Hazeldean Lions Club has a full bar located next to the entrance to the Kitchen and will provide bartenders at no charge to those wishing bar service. All profits from the bar service go to Community Service projects. The bar is not available to renters wishing to obtain their own Special Occasion Permit. (Note that when alcohol is present, the rental rate per hour is the same whether the KHLC provides bar service or the renter uses an SOP.)
Parking: There are 60 – 70 parking spots available on site. Parking is shared among folks renting the Hall and folks using the soccer fields or hockey rinks. In the summer, the parking area will be partially used during soccer practices or games. In the winter, a rink is constructed on the south parking lot eliminating close to 40 spaces. On street parking is available.
Adjacent Fields: Please note that Hall rental does not provide exclusive use of the adjacent soccer fields or skating rinks. Should you wish to rent either of those facilities, please contact the City of Ottawa.
